Birchwood Manual Tyrolean Flicker Sprayer (B01001) Green Plastic

This manual Tyrol machine is perfect for decorating and is designed to apply textured coatings to interior and exterior walls. Ideal for applying Tyrolean and roughcast wall covering on both exterior and interior walls. The adjustable pressure bar allows you to control the texture produced. The casing is made from a toughened one piece plastic construction.

Tyrolean finish

• The finish is produced with the aid of a hand operated machine whereby droplets of workable cement rich mortar are flicked onto the wall from the sprung tines on the comb rotating on a spindle. These are partly immersed the mixture. For best results the machine is normally used with mixes specially prepared by the manufacturers, who should be consulted as to the colour and other effects that can be achieved.

 Maintenance & application

 Method of application 1st layer

• Stand as far away from the area as the scaffolding permits. This allows for the maximum spread of the material from the machine. A minimum distance of 500mm (approx. 20 inches) is desirable.Ensure that you regulate the speed of turning the handle to ensure that the maximum amount of material is thrown onto the surface. This enables you to obtain a thin covering. Please note it is not essential at this stage to hide the backing completely.Keep the machine moving with the opening angled slightly downwards, this helps to prevent overloading the flickers with material.

 Following layers

• You can now start to build up the Tyrolean texture over the thin covering. You should now slightly reduce the speed in which you turn the handle to allow the flickers to pick up more material, which when thrown onto the thin covering forms the basis of the texture. Please be aware you will now need to move closer to the work to compensate for the slower speed. Keep the machine moving and continue to build up the finish to a total thickness of 6-8mm (1/4” to 5/16”) to give the approved honey comb texture.At the final stage of application it may be necessary to make a further reduction in the speed of turning the handle.

 Maintenance

• This machine should be washed out thoroughly whenever there is a break in the work and especially at the end of the day. Ensure that there is no trace of unused material. To strip the machine down it is done so by removing the wingnut and withdrawing the handle and roller unit. Worn parts can be easily remove and replaced.
